For Tuesday - year 9

For Tuesday I want you to be able to choose between writing a poem (any kind of structure ) about one of the following photos - focusing on the current migrant crisis in Europe. Try to find your own unique perspective and imagine that you are a person, on either the boat, or the fence.  What are you thinking? What are you leaving behind? What kind of future are you imagining? Try to put yourself in someone else's shoes....

There is a Blackout Poetry contest on its way at school, here are some of the students' contributions....

The students in year 9 have handed in their summaries (of short stories). I made the summaries anonymous, added a number to each text and sat the students in groups. In groups of four they read through the summaries, kept a protocol where they also commented on the quality of each summary. Afterwards, one student said "this was such a great assignment!" I totally agreed - they took great responsibility, cooperated well and learned a lot.
