The students are here!!! Yippie!

The students are back!!! Yes!!! Yesterday the wonderful creatures arrived back in school to start a new school year and the school buildings are alive again! Their classroom has had its brick walls painted white and I've added a couple of posters in English: classroom expectations and some pointers for self assessment. The phrases of the week from last school year are hanging on the side of a cupboard in the classroom, and we hope to add more phrases throughout the semester.

Phrase of the week - To know something by heart

To know something "by heart" could mean that you know something so well that you know it perfectly. This is the phrase for the week for my classes!

This week's phrase is "Hold your tongue"..... something that my students sometimes need to be reminded of. :)

Snapshot from today

This week I started with "phrase of the week." Each week I will present a phrase or idiom to my classes - the same one for all of them - and we are going to help each other explain the phrases and discuss in what context we might find them. Also, what do they mean in Swedish? The phrase will sit on the whiteboard for a week until it is time for a new one to make its entrance.  My idea is to surround the students with English - what they see and hear is what they will learn...
This week's phrase is: A piece of cake.
